Single Camera Techniques Evaluation

Planning the video

At first we started off planning the video by having a discussion about what we wanted to do, we then made a brain shower where we collaborated all of our ideas. We came up with the song ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ and then started from there, we wrote about the different camera angles we wanted to use, the equipment we would need, the type of lighting we wanted to use and who would actually be in the video. After initially planning the video we started to gather equipment and props that we wanted to use so we would be ready to film the video. We bought glasses, drinks, food, fancy dress items and other things that would make our video better.

Pre-production documentation

When pre producing out film, we done storyboards, risk assessments and a cast and crew list. The story boards which hayley done, scene by scene of what we would like to do. Megan was the person who made the list who would be coming to the party. it was important to know who was going. We then filled out sheets for risks and safety hazards which could happen whilst filming. We all worked together as part of a team and each done a little bit. I came up with a few things for the video whilst we produced our a3 sheet of planning. We were all interacting and jumping with ideas.

Filming

Before filming the video we all arranged a night where we would all be available. When it came to filming we set the house up as a party scene by getting out food and drinks, and then waited for people to arrive. The filming was very simple as we took clips of people enjoying the night; we chose to do this because we thought that this way the video wouldn’t look too staged. We took different clips of people drinking, drinks being poured, people talking and people dancing. We wanted a range of different clips to edit together so there would be a lot of variety in the overall video. We got all of the filming done during the one night and everything came out great.

Equipment

The equipment we used was nikon camera, so we could film the happenings at the party. Team work We all worked in a team, by planning it was a great thing to do as you learn to communicate and work together.

Problems

The only thing was is that we had changed our song at the last minute as we were having problems as it was a bit too long. So we had changed it and worked really good with the song which was Pursuit Of Happiness - Turn It Around. We then sat down together and edited them all together.

Post Production

The post production stage of the video went really good as it was easy to edit all of out video together as we had alot of clips. We made sure the beat went along with the videos and it worked outstandingly. We worked intereactively and jumping with ideas how we should put one clip and another somewhere and how the text should be.

What worked?

I think it worked all together. The video is brilliant with different effects of the beat going with the video at the right time. We all worked a team and it went all great. The filming was succesful along with the edting and teamwork. It went all successful and all worked together and made group decisions right from the start. I really liked working in a group and coming up with loads of new ideas and planning the shoot. It give me a better understanding of communicating and working well in a group.

What didnt work?

I think everything worked very neatly and well, but it was mostly just the song at the start, as we werent really feeling it and we kept getting a lot of ideas in our heads and so we changed it to a better song.

Skills?

I have gained more editing skills and team building, Also in decision making and problem solving too.

How will I approach it in the future?

I very much enjoyed this project and feel like i have improved more than i did know in video and editing skills. Will defintely making more videos in the future as its very enjoyable, this will help me for my university grades as I am wanting to do video, as I have done alot of making videos and editing in the past on my own youtube before and throughly enjoyed it.

Task 7 - Pre-Production

Location

At the beginning of the video we are going to set the scene at house. We then are going to capture a scene in a moving car to capture the journey to the party. We will be then filming everything back in the house. The final thing we did was risk assessments, we made these a main priority as we needed to protect the cast as there was quitea few risks involved within our music video.

Music Video Pitch - Task 6

This is our pitch powerpoint which we presented to everyone as a group We chose the song Sub Focus - Turn It Around as we think it would go great with the theme and it is a party song...

Feedback We recieved some feedback from our powerpoint, some people told us that we could have included some more information on some slides and some images to make the powerpoint more interesting. But overall it was a informative powerpoint and showed our ideas clearly.

Task 4 - Camera Shots

I have uploaded some images of different camera shots. 1st is extra long shot, which is a faraway shot in alot of surroundings (example)
2nd is a long shot which is a an image that is not so far away as the extra long but still gets all the surroundings.

The next one is a mid shot which will include the face and half a body shot.

The next one is a close up which shows the subjects face closer up than the mid shot.

This one is an extreme close up which shows mainly just the eye very close.

Lastly is a two shot which has two people in it, which shows a relationship between two characters.

Here i have worked in a group showing different camera movements.
